Dry Spell Series: 3 Steps to Get Back Right

So last time, we saw the 3 sure shot signs of spiritual dryness. How do we solve this problem? No sweat! In this post, we will look at 3 steps to return to your first love – Christ Jesus. Remember, all things are possible with God! (Matthew 19:26).

#1 Repent & Submit yourself to God

Examine yourselves… is there disobedience in your life? Have you yielded to lust or fleshly ways? It is hard to abide in God with a fleshly attitude (Galatians 5:24). Our sins pose as an obstacle in our relationship with God. Remember, God is the Holiest of the Holies (Leviticus 11:45) and therefore it is very difficult for us to have an active communion with Him unless we have repented of our sins. If you are not sure how to repent, I have a put up a prayer below; which you can say out loud and after listing the sins that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind, ask for forgiveness for each sins.

Loving Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I ask you for forgiveness of the sins I have committed against you both knowingly and unknowingly. I ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to me my actions, mindsets and attitudes that have grieved you. I repent of my sins: (your sins here). As I submit myself to you, I ask the Holy Spirit to cleanse me with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. I thank you Father for giving me the grace to abide in You. In Jesus precious name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

By praying this prayer, God will cleanse us of all our sins and help us renew our spirit in Him.

#2 Just believe!

Doubts, uncertainties and lack of faith are a recipe for an impending spiritual disaster. Being worried about the future or about things that bother you are not going to solve anything. In fact, Jesus commanded us never to worry.

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Matthew 6:25-34 (NKJV)

Worrying only indicates that we really don’t think God has the ability to solve our problems. Instead, let us all just believe that God can solve our issues for us! Sometimes, we need to have blind faith which does not involve overly scrutinizing His works and ways, just leaving it to Him to work it through.

#3 Pray & Read incessantly!

This is a no-brainer! I know I have repeated this point over and over in my previous posts, but praying and reading the Word of God are very important aspects of Christian life. These two go hand in hand and often can be a pit-stop for us to renew our minds!

May God guide you in renewing your relationship with Him.
